    Awaab’s Law From 27 October 2025
    (0) Awaab’s Law From 27 October 2025

The Regulations are also known as ‘Awaab’s Law’ in memory of two-year old Awaab Ishak, who died tragically in 2020 as a result of a severe respiratory condition due to prolonged exposure to mould in his home. Awaab’s parents had complained repeatedly to their social landlord in the three years prior to Awaab’s death, but no action was taken by their social landlord to treat the mould. Awaab’s Law will come into force for the social rented sector from 27 October 2025. From this point social landlords will have to address all emergency hazards and all damp and mould hazards that present a significant risk of harm to tenants to fixed timeframes. Please got to Awaab’s Law: Draft guidance for social landlords - GOV.UK for more infomation.

Faye has been growing her hair to donate to The Little Princess Trust.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as Alopecia.

The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

The Little Princess Trust relies solely on the generosity of its wonderful supporters who help the charity give Hair and Hope to so many children and young people with cancer each year.

The cost of providing one wig is £700 and 12 people need to donate their hair to make one wig. Please donate if you can.

Romsey & Waterside Lions Club Easter egg Raffle 2024
    (0) Romsey & Waterside Lions Club Easter egg Raffle 2024

The annual Easter egg raffle at PC Building Supplies turned out to be a remarkable success, with Jason Bassett leading the counter staff in a commendable fundraising effort. Their collective enthusiasm and participation culminated in a generous donation of £434.27 to the Romsey & Waterside Lions Club thanks to the donations from our customers and those who work here. This significant contribution will bolster the club’s charitable endeavours, allowing them to further their commitment to the community.

Also thank you to Martin Daniels of MD Roofline Specialists for allowing us to take a photo after winning the second egg!

    What they do!

Our Club is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the less fortunate in our community. We aim to provide service, assistance and funds for those in need. This may be done through practical ‘hands on’ or financial assistance or by supporting and working with other local charitable organisations who benefit the public at large. Some of these have included SERV the out of hours blood transport service, Romsey Leonard Cheshire Home, Naomi House and Jacksplace Hospice, Romsey Cub Scouts, Romsey Sea Cadets, Romsey Young Carers and since the beginning of 2020 giving £3,800 to the three Foodbanks we support in Waterside, Romsey and Nursling. We have also made donations to assist needy people in Romsey and surrounding districts, and we raise money to give disadvantaged children and their carers a day out at the Paultons Park and Peppa Pig theme park each year. Throughout the year, supported by partners and friends, we run a variety of fundraising events and activities. These include our very popular monthly bookstall, street collections and organising giant Easter egg raffles at local pubs and clubs, to name but a few. These are great social occasions and are thoroughly enjoyed by all who take part. We also run a full social programme for our members and partners. We do not charge for administrative costs, being one of the few organisations where all profits go to the cause being supported.
